We are currently seeking a full-time VP of Engineering interested in joining a growth stage startup.

Above all, we are seeking an engineering leader who will be a player-coach with extensive startup experience, preferably from inception to maturity. You will be actively coding and exceptional at motivating, managing, and assembling a world-class engineering team. We are seeking a self-starter who is resourceful, organized, detail-oriented, communicative, and friendly.

As part of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering new products and features across multiple domains and technologies. The ability to be decisive with architecture and making strategic product decisions, as well as critically thinking about and advocating for product enhancements and optimizations is a must. You will be working with the following technologies: Typescript, Node.js, Angular, Nest.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Message Queues, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GCP/AWS and have flexibility to shape our stack.

At Getlabs, you will:

  • Lead Getlabs' Engineering, including the development and implementation of an engineering team design that maximizes productivity and the team's contribution to achieving company objectives
  • In partnership with the senior leadership team, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company's services, including the identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business' success
  • Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms (including web application frameworks and the deployment stack) for delivery the company's services.
  • Take charge and accountability of product releases and deployment consistent with timeline commitments
  • Actively recruit top talent and maintain a pipeline of candidates for speed to hire
  • Drive decisions on resources and budgets for efficiency and ability to scale
  • Develop and foster a culture of speed and innovation along with resolving customer challenges
  • Mentor, train, coach, and help grow the engineering team
  • Encourage, facilitate and monitor professional development for the engineering team
  • Set goals and objectives, monitor progress, and determine best use of resources
  • Cultivate a collaborative, transparent culture where cross-functional teamwork is the norm
  • Display high-performance, high-energy leadership to direct team and collaborate effectively with the senior leadership team, particularly in driving forward major company strategy and initiatives
  • What we are looking for:

  • BS degree in computer science or similar; graduate degree a plus
  • 10+ years of technical leadership in software development with full stack architecture and distributed systems, preferably including hands-on experience with Angular and Node.js
  • 3+ years as a senior leader, with a demonstrated track record of delivering scalable, high-performing software platforms
  • Excellent Typescript, SCSS, and HTML skills
  • Expertise with cloud infrastructure and automated infrastructure management on services such as GCP and AWS
  • Ability to take designer-created assets as well as quick mockups and implement them from start to finish
  • Experience working in a fast paced startup environment with quick iteration, continuous deployment, and test-driven development
  • Passion for using technology to improve the lives of our customers
  • Excitement for solving tough problems that haven’t been solved before
  • Desire to work in a collaborative environment with a tight knit team of passionate people
  • Knowledge of HIPAA/ePHI compliance
